M-cyclist killed in  Tuaran mishap
TUARAN: A motorcyclist died while his pillion rider sustained injuries after being hit by a car at Jalan Sulaman, Kampung Dungun, here, Wednesday night.

Tuaran District Police Chief DSP Dzulbaharin Ismail said initial investigation found that the Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle was heading into the main road from a junction heading towards the so-called “horse roundabout”.

“However, as soon as they exited the junction and entered the right lane at Jalan Sulaman, they were hit by a Perodua Myvi from behind,” he said.

“The 52-year-old Myvi driver coming from Marabahai Spurs junction could not avoid the machine in time and crashed into it.”

According to Dzulbaharin, the rider, 18, was thrown and killed on the spot due to severe injuries on his head and body.

“The pillion rider, also 18, sustained a broken right leg and head injuries and was rushed to Tuaran Hospital,” he said.

Dzulbaharin said the car driver suffered no injuries and the case will be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
