Worry over unkempt Kingfisher houses
The owners of two unoccupied houses along a housing road in Taman Kingfisher Phase 3 have been asked to clean up their yards, following a complaint that the compound for their properties was unkempt.

Unscrupulous parties have apparently taken advantage of this situation to break-into those living next to these houses.

A City Hall spokesman said its staff had inspected the area and confirmed that the trees and grass around both homes were overgrown.

“Notices were issued to both individuals instructing them to tend to the mess inside their compounds,” he said on March 20.

He said these individuals would be given a grace period in which to get the properties in order.

“Should the owners fail to comply with our instructions, then further action will be taken against them.”

The spokesman said the agency’s staff would make random checks to determine whether this was the case.

CHING of Likas said the houses, which were located on Lorong 13A, had been unoccupied for many years.

“Burglars entered my neighbours house around 4am on a recent Wednesday in February,” he said.

“I fear that mine may be targeted as well as I saw a ladder set up in the back yard for vacant house nearby.”

He said he compounds around the unoccupied homes were covered with overgrown trees, plants and weeds.

“There is even a large crack running up the wall for one of these houses.”

Ching suspected that these properties might have become a breeding ground for pests.

“Snakes, rats and insects have begun to find their way from the adjacent land into my compound.” He said the state of the houses and their yards were an eye sore.

“It creates a bad impression of the neighbourhood, especially in the eyes of those visiting the area for the first time.”

He decried the homeowners as being irresponsible for failing to maintain their properties.

The resident provided Hotline with the location of the homes in question. This information was forwarded to City Hall.  (SS)
