All-woman honour guard for first time
ACP Habibi Majinji has high regard for the family institution which he describes as the backbone to the success of the police force.

This was portrayed during the 212th Police Day Celebration held at the city police headquarters here, Monday, which for the first time saw a Guard of Honour comprising two officers and 50 personnel – all of them women.

The ceremony also saw participation of personnel’s children who wore police uniforms, while some of the youngsters donned the Sabah Police Family Association (Perkep) attire.

In addition to maintaining public order and safety, great emphasis is also placed on the family institution, Habibi told a media conference after the ceremony. Also present was Mayor Datuk Nordin Siman.

He said having an all-woman Guard of Honour as well as children involved symbolises the importance of the family institution which in a way contributes to the success of the men and women in blue.

He also noted that city police performed quite well the first three months this year, recording 665 arrests or 14.2 per cent in drug related offences. Crime was also reduced by 20.13pc. He attributed the success to the hard work and commitment of men and women in the force.

He also thanked the local community for the strong cooperation. “This is in line with 212th Police Day Celebration slogan ‘Polis dan Masyarakat Berpisah Tiada’.

Towards this end, he vowed to continue to uphold peace and order in the city, with particular focus on eradicating drug related offences and other crime.
