Sexual assault: Man to know fate April 26
KOTA KINABALU: A 24-year-old man charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl will know his fate on April 26. Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim fixed the decision date for Nurfazzrynn Fazir after his defence closed its case.

Nurfazzrynn was accused fondling the 15-year-old girl’s right breast at 2.30pm on July 3 2018 by the roadside in Taman Sempelang, Tanjung Aru. 

The charge under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, if found guilty.

Nurfazzrynn was represented by counsel Michelle Rossana Usman.

In another case, six foreigners including a woman were jailed four months each for entering the State illegally.

Julmin Talagi, Leonardus Bernadus Dedi, Edmar Martin, Junatan Amzah and Saini Saidal pleaded guilty separately Noor Hafizah.

The men, except Junatan and Saini due to their age and gender, were also ordered to be caned once.

The court heard that the six were arrested after they failed to produce their travel documents during operation here in Penampang and Papar between March 2 and March 21.

The foreigners were charged under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, which carries a fine of up to RM10,000 or a jail term of up to five years or both and whipping of not more than six strokes of the cane, on conviction.

They were also ordered be referred to the Immigration Department for their biometrics data to be taken before being deported back to their country.
