Body of Abu Sayyaf kidnap victim buried in Sandakan

SANDAKAN: The body of Malaysian fisherman Jari Abdullah, 34, who died while receiving treatment in a Zamboanga hospital after fleeing from the Abu Sayyaf a fortnight ago was buried at the Kg Sim-Sim Muslim Cemetery at 9.35am, Friday.It was brought back from the Philippines on Wednesday and reached Sandakan Airport via KLIA and KKIA at 7.45am on Friday. Upon reaching Sandakan, the body was brought to Surau Al-Furqan in Kg Sim-Sim here to undergo funeral rites.

His widow, Nadin Junianti Najiri, 25 and three children aged 1, 5 and 7 together with his mother-in law and families as well as close friends were present.
Also present were Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister cum Sekong Assemblyman Ariffin Asgali representing Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal and Community Development Leader for Tanjung Papat, Abdul Basid Osman representing Tanjong Papat Assemblyman Frankie Poon Ming Fung.
Jari was among three fishermen kidnapped by the Abu Sayyaf on Dec. 6, 2018 while working at Pegagus Reef Kinabatangan. He suffered gunshot wounds during the skirmish between Philippine troops and the terrorist-kidnappers.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

His mother, Juana Lautu, 54, said it is very difficult for her to accept the passing of her second child of three siblings but will accept it as fate.

“What can I do, it is fate that my son passed away and we leave it to God (Allah SWT),” she said sadly. She fainted during the funeral proceedings.
