Finish already approved projects plea
Tenom: The new Parti Warisan Sabah-led State Government has been urged to complete development projects approved by the previous government but stalled due to the change in government after the 14th General Election.

A Kampung Pansailon villager Basir Abdullah said people in several villages in Lagud Seberang hope the new government would complete already approved development projects like the proposed 709-metre-long road connecting the Murut Cultural Centre and Sabah Agriculture Park. He said although the government has changed because the people have democratically chosen a new government but the new government should not abandon the responsibility to complete the already approved development projects for the people’s benefit.

Because the proposed road project concerned has taken into account the interests of the people there to cut short their travelling time to town as well as for tourists to visit the agriculture park. “The people are puzzled why the Government is claiming it does have enough funds to continue the said development project, while at the same time it had funds to revive the railway track between Tenom and Melalap.

“As taxpayers, we have the right to ask the Government to be fair in the distribution of development projects with a system of whichever the first should be first, while the new ones to be implemented later except for development of hospitals, schools, fire and rescue stations and police stations to be prioritised,” he told reporters.

The previous state government had experienced a delay in starting the said proposed road project which is to connect from the already completed Natanduan Pulung Melalap bridge to Lagud Seberang. The works were delayed because the Government then was still awaiting the approval letter from Sime Darby which is the owner of the land involved in the implementation of the said proposed road project, said Datuk Seri Radin Malleh while he was then State Rural Development Minister. Apart from that, the previous government has approved an additional allocation for constructing the proposed road including for compensation payment to the Sime Darby, he said.
