Special Scout camping for 39 students

KINABATANGAN: Twenty-one students of SK Sungai Anib III, including 18 from its Integrated Special Education Programme’s (PPKI) Special Class for Learning and Hearing, took part in a three-day Special Scout Camping 5.0 at Borneo Natural Bilit Resort Sukau here recently.

The programme was officiated by Karamunting Scout Commissioner, Skipper Mohammad Saat and his Assistant Commissioner, Skipper Bacho Tali.

The school headmaster, Azhar Sani Tamam, Senior Assistant (Co-Curriculum), Biddora Musli Alonto, PPKI Senior Assistant, Shirley Liew Fui Mui, Camp Commandant, Sallehidun Saipul, and Parent-Teacher Association Chairman, Lee Yuen Sin, including 12 parents also joined as volunteers, together with 16 teachers and student management assistants. 

Azhar said the camping, the first of its kind held outside the school and the district, was aimed at enhancing the students’ achievement, as well as to boost their patriotism and spirit of co-operation as well as their level of confidence and ability to be independent in facing the outside world. 

Besides that, he said, it was also aimed at increasing the students’ social skills and to make the parents and community as strategic partners and to inculcate continuous support. 

Four of the students were also awarded the Rambu Award, which is said to be the first in Sabah for PPKI students.
