Sabah target top five finish

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah netball team will be targeting a top five finish in the 35th National Junior Netball Championship to be held at Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur starting tomorrow (Thursday).
Sabah Netball Association President Chenderemata Sinteh said the 12-member team have been training in preparation for the four-day competition since January at Yayasan Sports Complex.

“We only set a top five target for the team as these are our elite junior players that we are grooming for the Sukma 2020 in Johor, and we want to expose them to this tournament and hopefully they will learn from the experience,” she said on Tuesday.
Twelve teams are taking part in the competition and Sabah are drawn in Group D with Negeri Sembilan and Melaka. They will open their campaign against Negeri Sembilan tomorrow at 3.45pm before taking on Melaka on Friday at 12.45pm.
The contingent led by team manager Bibi Zairah Alli and coach Hazlyn Liaw left for Kuala Lumpur today.
