Five men held over KK brawl
KOTA KINABALU: City police have rounded up five individuals to facilitate ongoing investigation into an assault case at Centre Point shopping mall, here, last Sunday.

Acting City Police Chief Supt George Abd Rakman (pic) said the suspects, aged between 18 and 25, were detained at separate locations on Tuesday and Thursday.

He said the first operation saw the arrest of two men, aged 18 and 19, near Pekan Inanam at about 11pm, while the second saw the arrest of three more men at Kg Lok Bunoh, near Jalan Sepanggar, at about 7.30pm.

George said the suspects are being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code which carries two years’ jail or fine, or both, on conviction.

On Monday, a 46-second clip of six men beating up two other men at a shopping mall went viral on WhatsApp and Facebook.

In the video, one of the victims was pulled to the ground while he was being punched and kicked on his torso and head by the group.

Police have since launched a hunt to track down the suspects.
