SANDAKAN: There is no shortcut to success, including in academics, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Liew Vui Keong (pic).

“Only through hard work and sacrifices in terms of time and money will bear fruits of success,” he said when officiating SMK Elopura 2’s Commitment Awards Ceremony, here, Saturday.

“I am confident the dedication to master knowledge and skills will motivate students to obtain success.”

He also hoped students would not only excel in academics but also holistically.

“Students must use the learning opportunity in schools to explore their potentials and maximise them,” he said.

Meanwhile, Liew said successful individuals could be produced through a well-planned agenda by the teachers as outlined under the Malaysian Education Development Plan.

“The responsibility to realise the building of a nation of successful human capital and future leaders lies in the hands of educators.

“For example, schools have conducted various programmes like extra and advanced classes as well as co-curriculum activities.

“This is important as all activities conducted by schools aimed to enhance students’ achievements in both academics and co-curriculum.

“Apart from that, the cooperation from the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) is equally important to help students achieve excellence,” he said.
