206 Tuaran teachers receive  outstanding service awards
TUARAN: A total of 206 teachers from primary and secondary schools in the district received outstanding services awards during the District-level Teacher Day and Excellent Award ceremony at Shangri-La Rasa Ria Resort grand ballroom here, recently.

 Nine retired headmasters also received ”Jasamu Dikenang” awards, while eight teachers received Icon Awards and two others received Special Award of Sabah Education Department Sector Head, during the event officiated by Assistant Education and Innovation Minister, Jennifer Lasimbang.

Two retired teachers, namely Sekolah Kebangsaan Pekan Tuaran ex-principal, Ali Akbar Kawi and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tenghilan ex-principal, Lee Kui Len, were also presented with the Tokoh Teacher award and other awards in appreciation of their services. 

District Education Officer Tah Nia Jaman, in her speech said the role of teachers are very important in the effort to raise the education quality to produce excellent students.

“We also want to foster the spirit of unity and cooperation between teachers to uphold the education in this country. 

“As a teachers we hope the recognition and awards will drive all the educators to try hard and pave the the way for students success in different fields in the future.”

Besides that, he also expressed appreciation to the community who contributed and supported District Education Office (PPD).
