Tangau who is also Tuaran MP and State Trade and Industry Minister said among the main focus is hardcore poverty eradication.

“To this end, the e-Kasih list for the district had been reviewed and streamlined,” he said when opening the Tuaran Kaamatan Festival celebration, at Tun Hamdan Hall, Tamparuli, near here, Sunday.
“Of the 2,000 households listed, we managed to finalise the list to only 900 households.
“And we have distributed these 900 households to be ‘adopted’ by various Federal and State government agencies.”
E-Kasih is an integrated national poverty database and currently, the system is only limited to rural and urban households earning below RM1,000 and RM1,500, respectively.

Tangau also said the Tuaran District Council had established a ‘war room’ with a specific mission to eradicate poverty here.
“I hope we will not only reduce the number of hardcore poor in the district but also turned these households into successful entrepreneurs,” he said.

On entrepreneurship, Tangau said the government is also in a mission to identify those who have potentials in the sector, especially in manufacturing in the district.
Meanwhile, the district is set to see a boost in its tourism sector with the revival of long-abandoned resorts here, including Mimpian Jadi Beach Resort.
“We have found an investor to revive Mimpian Jadi...we plan to have a five-star hotel operating in Mimpian Jadi.
“Plans are also on the way to have a five-star hotel built in Pantai Dalit.”
At the same time, he said, several initiatives are conducted to enhance the public awareness on maintaining cleanliness here.
“We want to push for full eradication of litterbugs and we also encourage recycling activities in villages within the district.
“These efforts will also help attract more tourists to Tuaran,” he said.
On Kaamatan Festival, he advised local festival organisers to promote their Kaamatan-related events in their respective villages.
“They can liaise with tour agents so that these agents can bring their tourists to experience local culture.”
