Make Ranau number one achiever, people told

RANAU: The 2019 Kaamatan Festival on Saturday should become the turning point for all people in the district to progress further and make Ranau the number one achiever in every aspects.
Ranau MP, Jonathan Yasin, said the people must cease being dependent on outsiders to make the district more developed in various areas because people here are also capable of achieving greater heights if they believe in themselves.

“We may not know it but up till now we have already produced many goods which possess outstanding quality such as coffee, crafts, food products, proven talents in entertainment and sports as well as in other fields.
“So, let this be our motivation to make Ranau a great place which gives us pride when people talk about our achievement.
“It is also the right time for our entrepreneurs to move ahead from only selling fruits and vegetables into industrial business types which involves processing and producing raw goods into products,” he said.
He said, as one of the leaders here, he totally supports every effort initiated by Ranau people to introduce new products or any brilliant ideas by the locals that could result in positive impact to the district.

Jonathan, who is also Malaysian Cocoa Board Chairman was speaking when officiating the Ranau 2019 Kaamatan Festival at the Dewan Masyarakat Ranau that saw thousands of people attending.
Meanwhile, he said, he and other leaders are also committed in resolving all issues, which are in need of solution across the district such clean water and paving of roads.

There were other events during the kaamatan celebration that, among others, include the golf tournament at the Ranau Golf Club and the Sonsoluyon paragliding at the Ranau Sports Complex.
Other events were gong beating and ethnic dance competition, folk sport, sugandoi, 4X4 Kaamatan Challenge, exhibition and selling of local crafts, agriculture exhibition, blood donation, traditional Dish competition, photography competition, cultural performance, “Magavau or Monoluut” performance, and the first ever Kinabalu Strongman competition.
At the event, former Ranau District Officer, Hj Faimin Kamin, was awarded the title Luguan Kaamatan 2019 or Kaamatan Figure, for his contributions as well as exemplary deeds for the people in the district.

Other recipients of appreciation in the festival were Jonius Gurinting (special award for agro entrepreneur), Jusnah Jinos (special award for women entrepreneur) and Sabli Yassin (special award for youth).
Also present were Paginatan Assemblyman Datuk Abidin Madingkir, Ranau District Officer Mohd Yassin Ibrahim, District Chief Attin Naisin, Karanaan Community Development Leader (PPM) Awasi Ghanie and Paginatan PPM Hishamuddin Harun.
