Two teens among 3 killed in crash
KOTA BELUD: An accident involving a Perodua Bezza and Mitsubishi Triton left three dead, including two teenagers, near Ambong Kelawat along Jalan Tuaran-Kota Belud, Monday.

 Bezza driver Azami Madlasim, 34, a factory worker and front seat passenger Mohd Nasrin Hamzah, 15, were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics due to serious injuries while Nurul Amrirah Syahirah Rumi, 13, who suffered left hand injuries, broken shoulder and internal bleeding died at the hospital, Monday evening.

 Both Mohd Nasrin and Nurul were studying in SMK Tenghilan, Tamparuli, in Form Four and Form 1, respectively.

 District Police Chief Supt Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said initial investigations revealed that the victims were travelling from the Ambong Kelawat junction to SMK Tenghilan, Tuaran where they were hit by the four-wheel drive while exiting the junction.

The 33-year-old Triton driver, who is a teacher, escaped unhurt. “Due to impact, the Bezza overturned several times before crashing on the road shoulder while the other into a drain near a row of stalls,” he said.

 Zaidi said Nurul was rushed to the Kota Belud Hospital but succumbed to injuries in the evening. He said the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

 District Fire and Rescue Department Chief Rozlan Osman said a team of 10 firefighters rushed to the scene after being alerted at 5.51am and extricated the victims that were pinned inside the car. The tragedy also caused damage to the nearby stalls.
