MMEA detains four with 493 packets cooking oil

TAWAU: Some 493 packets of Ayam Berdua cooking oil were seized from four suspects including a Malaysian, after Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) detained a cargo boat at Tanjung Batu waters about 7.30 pm last Wednesday.
Deputy Operation Director for Tawau Maritime Zone, Commander Maritime Mohd Yusri Husin, said their boat was on patrol duty for Ops Pluto Timur in the area when it stopped the cargo boat for inspection.

“The boat was handled by a local boat skipper with three Indonesian crew aged between 19 and 47 years old.

“They were detained when found carrying 493 packets of cooking oil of one kilogramme each worth about RM1, 235,” he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Control of Supply Act 1961.
