Inanam is holding its own Harvest Festival
KOTA KINABALU: The local community in Inanam will be organising the Harvest Festival celebration for the first time over three days from May 17 at the Manggatal Community Hall.

According to Inanam Assemblyman Kenny Chua, the event is organised upon the request of the community in his constituency for their own celebration.

He said the aim of the celebration is to unite the Inanam community, get valuable information from government agencies and to generate extra income.

“The local community will have the opportunity to socialise during the event in line with the theme of unity,” he told a press conference, Wednesday.

Also present were co-organising chairman, Angela Kok and Ronny Roger Biun.

Angela said the prizes for the champions of Unduk Ngadau and Sugandoi have been increased from RM1,000 to RM3,000 and RM800 to RM2,000, respectively.

“There will be 15 finalists for the Unduk Ngadau and 10 for the Sugandoi to compete at the gala night on May 19.

“During the celebration, we will hold traditional sports events such as tug-or-war and mipulos (arm-wrestling), traditional food contest and magagung (gong beating competition).

Ronny said people will have the opportunity to open up stalls during the event.

He said so far there are 30 stalls.

“We also have invited more than 10 government agencies and departments such Health Department and Mara Vocational, College (IKM), and private companies like Maxis and Perodua to participate in the event,” he said.
