Phoong gets straight to work
KOTA KINABALU: Newly appointed Youth and Sports Minister Ginger Phoong Jin Zhe wants all his heads of departments to brief him on the Ministry’s activities before the Kaamatan celebrations.

The Luyang assemblyman, who was sworn in on Tuesday, clocked in for the first time in the afternoon and wasted no time and immediately addressed the staff on his desire to bring the Ministry forward.

“I am really looking forward to work with you all and to hear from you and your suggestions so that the Ministry could progress further,” he said.

He also said there will not be any slip up after taking over from Datuk Frankie Poon who is now the new Sabah Health Minister.

“Even though I am new as a Minister, this government was formed a year ago and there is no time to waste. That is why immediately after the swearing ceremony just now, I came straight to the office.

“I would like to thank Datuk Frankie for his work done for the past one year. I am sure he has already planned something and I believe now is the time for implementation.

“My main priority is with the help of the Permanent Secretary to see and meet all the heads of departments to brief me on the Ministry’s matters as soon as possible, hopefully it can be done before the Kaamatan celebrations or the Raya celebrations so that we can call for a meeting and do a brainstorming,” he said.

Also in the meeting to welcome him were newly appointed Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Yusrie Abdullah, Sabah Sports Board Chairman Dr KH Tan, MSN director Asneh Mohd Noor and Sabah Sports Board general manager Terrance Pudin.
