Debris in P’pang drain cleared
The government road concessionaire Pembinaan Kekal Mewah (PKM) had scooped out the debris that clogged the roadside drain in Kampung Sindanaan in Penampang, recently.

“So far we have cleared most of the drain in that village and we hope the weather is on our side for the rest of the week so we can finish in time for Kaamatan,” its spokesman said when contacted about a complaint raised by a resident there recently.

He said it was tasked to service the drain from the Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA) building until Kobusak.

“It may take a few days to complete because there are places that are hard for us to clear because excessive modification on driveway built by the residents there,” he said.

JOSH, who approached Hotline about the drain issue in the village, said the structure was high time to be attended to by its caretaker as several sections of the village road had become prone to flooding.

“At least the work will eliminate the stagnant water which became the breeding place for mosquitoes and minimise the occurrence of flash flood in the village,” he added.

He also bemoaned the mentality of some of the folks in the village for abusing the drainage.

“I know some of them simply throw away their non-biodegradable rubbish such as plastic bottles on the roadside which were later washed down into the drain by rain,” he said.

He hoped the mentality of these people would change for the betterment of all the community in that village.  (OV)
