Mechanic held for hitting wife over his mistress

LAHAD DATU: A 49-year-old mechanic was detained after allegedly hitting his wife for contacting his mistress, Wednesday.District Police Chief, ACP Nasri Mansor, said Friday the suspect was detained on Thursday after his 46-year-old wife lodged a police report.

Nasri said preliminary investigations found that about 10am on Wednesday, the couple had a fight when the mechanic found out that the victim had contacted a woman whom she believed her husband was having an affair with her after finding out about their relationship on Facebook.
While talking on the phone, the suspect scolded his wife. Following an argument, the suspect hit the victim’s head and punched her on her back repeatedly.
“Their 19-year-old daughter tried to stop the suspect but was slapped and hit repeatedly by the suspect also.
“The mother stopped the suspect from hitting their daughter and the suspect later went out of the house in anger.

“The victim later lodged a report for further action as well as for reference to demand a divorce to end their 23-year marriage,” he said.
Nasri said the victim got married to the suspect in April 1996 and had four children together.
