Pakistani trader slashed in Tuaran

TUARAN: A Pakistani sundry shop operator was slashed on the head (pic) with a machete (parang) by one of two men who also robbed him of his handphone – the second incident of members of the public being struck on the head with objects in the state capital within a week. In the incident at Kg Dungang at noon, the 23-year-old victim was confronted at the shop counter by the men who had helmets on, according to OCPD, deputy Supt Mohd Hamizi Halim.

“During the robbery attempt, the victim tried to attack one of the suspects who retaliated by slashing him on the right side of the head. They then fled in their Modenas Kriss that was painted in black and white,” he said, adding the victim is currently being treated at the district hospital. 

Mohd Hamizi said the case is being investigated and urged witnesses to contact police at 088-791933, 088-791966 or 088791977. During the Hari Raya holidays, a senior citizen who was having a drink in a coffeeshop in Inanam ended up being hospitalised after his assailants smashed beer bottles on his head, before robbing him of valuables and fleeing. – R Gonzales
