KENINGAU: Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) said the Federal Government’s holistic enforcement plan against Illegal Immigrant (Pati) deserves undivided support in view of continuing problems by them and locals in Sabah almost overtaken in number.

“The plan announced by Home Affairs Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin appears to be very comprehensive and if implemented properly with dedication will reduce illegals,” said its President Tan Sri Joseph Kurup.

However, he noted that the plan is only to stop the influx of illegals. “How about the already very sizeable number of illegals in Sabah?

The people of Sabah are still waiting for the outcome of the recommendations made by the Royal Commission Inquiry (RCI),” he said. He said besides crimes and social problems, locals are deprived of space to carry out business in markets.

The former Minister in the Prime Minister Department said the implementation of the RCI recommendations is also of utmost importance because the giving out of ICs and permanent stay is now going on (despite denials),” he said.

He said these new citizens would soon find their way as registered voters.

“This is dangerous. Worse still is the silent and subtle encouragement and support from certain quarters for them to do so.”
