SEPANG: After winning the goal medal at the 2019 World Archery Para Championship in the Netherlands, S. Suresh is now eyeing the opportunity to repeat his achievement at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics Games.

The Kuala Ketil, Kedah-born admitted that the success was very meaningful to him as a national para archer as it was his maiden participation at a world championship.

“I hope this success will continue to boost my spirit to burnish Malaysia’s image on the international stage.

“I feel my chance to win at the 2020 Paralympic Games later is very good, but I cannot take lightly the capability of the other athletes because the Paralympic Games is a different ball game altogether,” he said when met by reporters at the KL

International Airport (KLIA) here, with the national archery squad.

They were received by the Youth and Sports Minister, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, his deputy, Steven Sim Chee Keong and National Sports Council (NSC) director-general, Datuk Ahmad Shapawi Ismail.

At the same time, Suresh dedicated the gold medal to his coach, Marzuki Zakaria, his family and his teammates who gave him a lot of moral support to forge his name on the international sports arena.

Commenting further, Suresh conceded the expectations of Malaysians towards him remained high after winning the gold medal but he would use it to bolster his enthusiasm to continue to bring glory to the nation on the international stage especially at the 2020 Paralympic Games. – Bernama
