Girl dies after being left in car by mum

LAHAD DATU: A girl aged two years and nine months died after being left inside a car parked at the roadside of their house for more than two hours at Taman Aman 1 on Wednesday.District Police Chief, ACP Nasri Mansor in a statement on Friday said the tragedy occurred when the victim with her mother arrived home after picking up two older siblings from school.

Upon arrival, her older siblings get off the Perodua Bezza and the victim’s mother ordered her 10-years-old oldest child to bring out the victim.
“Once they reached home, the mother went to the upper floor of their house to pray and fell asleep. She later went downstairs with her husband at 3.45pm to eat.
“While eating, she called the victim’s name and not getting any response immediately searched the house but the victim could not be found. She then went to her car after failing to find the victim at her neighbour house,” he said.
The 31-year-old housewife later found her daughter, the youngest of four siblings unconscious and her mouth full of bubbles.

The victim who also had burns on her face and arm was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead despite receiving emergency treatment.
“The body was sent for post mortem and result confirmed she died due to heat-related death. The effect of burns occurred due to heat after her death.

“We have detained the mother to assist in investigations under Section 304A of the Penal Code,” he said.
