The gold medal was decided on a shoot-off after the score was tied 5-5. Brady shot a 10 but Khairul was only able to shoot an 8 to hand victory to the American.
Khairul’s silver medal is still the best result ever by a Malaysian in the World Championships.
The Terengganu lad had also qualified for next year’s Tokyo Olympics by reaching Sunday’s final.
Khairul’s silver medal feat followed on the achievement of compatriot S. Suresh, who won gold at the World Para Archery Championships in the recurve individual event in Hertogenbosch.
