Man on murder charge’s case moved to High Court

KOTA KINABALU: The case of a mangrove charcoal maker charged with the murder of a man here has been transferred to the High Court.
Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun made the order on Sisal Benigno’s case, Monday, following an application by the prosecution for the case to be transferred to the High Court.

Sisal, 41, is alleged to have murdered one Mohamad Nizam Khairul, 20, between 8.30pm and 9pm on Feb 18, 2018, in front of the ASNB Asia City, near the Restoran Ibunda, Singgah Mata, Asia City.
He faces the death penalty if convicted under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
Inspector Albert Basiri, prosecuting, informed the court on Monday that the prosecution received instruction from the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s (DPP) office for the case be transferred to the High Court.
Meanwhile, the court also transferred the case of a 28-year-old local man charged with drugs trafficking to the High Court.ADVERTISEMENT
The prosecution informed the court of receiving instruction from the DPP’s office to transfer Muhd Sallipin Sahah Tamat’s case to the High Court.
Muhd Sallipin is facing the death sentence or imprisonment for life and whipping not less than 15 strokes if convicted under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

Sisal’s and Muhd Sallipin’s plea would be taken at the High Court.
In another case, 13 people were penalised for committing drugs related offences.
Saidianori Nordin and Jefri Nasri pleaded guilty to having syabu weighing 0.66gm and 0.07gm, respectively on Feb 2 in Sinsuran and on Jan 9 in Likas each.
Saidionari was jailed 12 months while Jefri was handed eight months’ jail.
Rinnoh Garuda, Gaya Kinding, Darius Michael, Abdurajack Nahar, Albakry Lambertus, Azman Nurulah, Marius Rasdi, Wan Azri Mohd Azraie, Abdul Nasser Said, Mohd Al Adzrul Nasri and Mamat Isa admitted to taking drugs each.

Abdurajack was fined RM2,500 or eight months jail, Gaya and Wan Azri were fined RM2,200 or six months jail each, while Abdul and Adzrus were each fined RM2,000 or six months jail and Rinnoh was fined RM1,800 or six months jail.
Darius and Jefri were handed eight jail each while Azman, Marius and Mamat were jailed six months each.
