A papar driver has voiced his displeasure about the lack of maintenance carried out on the streetlights along a section of Jalan Putatan.
JEROME said some of these facilities appeared to be damaged.

“The bulbs, on either side of one of poles, have come away from their housing,” he said.
“Only the respective wires are keeping the bulbs aloft. They could fall at any time” He said motorists risked coming to harm if this happened.
“Drivers are likely to damage their vehicles or be involved in a bad accident if the wires holding up the bulbs snapped.”
Jerome said he frequently used the stretch as his office, which dealt in industrial plastics, was located off the stretch.

He said some of his colleagues had reported this problem to the local authorities, since this situation had first caught their attention some time ago.
“So far, however, nothing has been done to reattach the bulbs,” he said on June 20.

“I cannot understand how the relevant agency could be turning a blind eye to this problem.”
Jerome provided Hotline with the location of the affected lights. This information was forwarded to the District Council.
A Council spokesman said the agency would have to verify the driver’s claims.
“We will have to determine whether the stretch, including the streetlights, is under our jurisdiction,” he said.
“Should this be the case, then our staff will check on the condition of these facilities and we will arrange to have the necessary repairs carried out as soon as possible.”
