Dead on stage

KOTA KINABALU: A businessman collapsed and died from a suspected heart attack while taking part in a singing competition at Bandaran Berjaya, Saturday (pic).

Ho Hanchong, who runs a coffeeshop in Donggongon, Penampang, was among 57 contestants in the competition organised by Persatuan Persahabatan Nyanyian (Kota Kinabalu) when the 12.45pm incident occurred. 

The 52-year-old, who was contestant number 23, started staggering before collapsing on stage less than a minute into his performance. He is survived by his wife and six children. 

According to his wife, Ho has high blood pressure and recently paid a visit to the doctor. He came to Sabah from Kuala Lumpur about 30 years ago. 

A post mortem will be conducted on Sunday to determine the cause of death.
