Stop parking vehicles along roadsides!

The Penampang traffic police are urged to put a stop to heavy vehicles being parked illegally along the roadsides near the main entrance of Kivatu Plaza at night.
A concerned member of the public voiced his dissatisfaction on the matter as several lorry tankers were often seen parked at the roadsides, making it difficult for road users to exit from there.

“I won’t be surprised if someone meets an accident there,” said JACOB, the complainant.
To make matters worse, he said, there were times when the width of the road became too narrow for big vehicles to pass through due the presence of vehicles parked at both sides of the road.
“The garbage truck drivers may face difficulty to squeeze through that tight space if both sides of the road are occupied,” he added.
He said road users have no choice but to encroach the opposite lane in order to pass these parked lorries.

“This can be very dangerous if there’s an oncoming car,” he added.
He suggested the lorry drivers find other areas to park their vehicles.

“They are free to park anywhere so long as they are not obstructing anybody,” he added.
A traffic police spokesman assured that its patrol unit would be notified to run a check in that area as frequent as possible.
“We hope this publication will serve as a final warning to the lorry drivers to stop parking their vehicle along the roadsides,” he said.
