PWD reinstalls barricades near City Futsal Junction
The Public Works Department (PWD) has reinstalled the barricades at a turnaround junction near City Futsal at Tuaran Bypass in Manggatal, following a complaint by a member of the public who spotted many road users making such turning there recently.

The decision to close down the road junction is important to prevent the area from becoming prone to accidents as those plying the straight road towards Tebobon will run the risk of colliding with cars coming out of that junction.

“It was not supposed to be reopened as the poles which were used to cordon off the turning were damaged after a recent accident there,” a PWD spokesman said, when contacted recently.

He urged motorists not to use the road junction in question to make a turnaround.

“They can do so at another junction near KFC outlet several metres ahead,” he said.

RAMDIN, a concerned motorist, questioned the authority’s decision to make the road junction accessible for public use recently.

“Why did they open the junction if there were so many accidents occurring in the past?” he asked.

He said he had seen several motorists and even motorcyclists making a turnaround at that road junction ever since the barricades were removed.

“I strongly urge them to close it down permanently because it will not only prevent accidents but it will also improve the traffic flows at both sides of the main road during peak hours,” he added.  (OV)
