Over 3,500 strata titles ready
KOTA KINABALU: The State Government presented 3,547 subsidiary titles (strata titles) to residential and commercial units in housing estates here, in Tuaran and Penampang, in a ceremony held at Wisma Tanah dan Ukur, Tuesday.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, who presented the titles to the developers concerned, said it was in line with the State Government’s promise.

As the strata titles concerned are still in the name of the developers, he urged them to transfer the ownership to the individual unit owners this year.

He also said the Land and Survey Department had also completed the issuance of 6,889 land titles which he want to also personally hand over to the owners in districts throughout the State.

“I am confident that apart from these, there will more titles which will be processed and issued within the next six months,” he said, while advising those who will receive the land titles not to sell them but monitise the land to generate income and profit for them and their families.

The strata title presentation was part of the department’s 5-in-1 event – the Sabah Native Land Services Unit (Pantas) Building official opening ceremony; the Excellent Services Award presentation ceremony; the Subsidiary Title (Strata Title) presentation ceremony; The Land and Survey Department’s Dashboard launching ceremony and the department’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2019.

Earlier, he also officiated the opening of the Pantas building located by the side of the department’s headquarters building which was completed for RM6,956,587.04 financed under the Federal Government through Sabah Native Special Programme (PKAN).

The building which has 106 Pantas officers and staff including field workers who do surveying work, is part of efforts to boost land administration and service delivery to the people. The three-storey building provides native land services including hearing for native land-related cases.

Apart from that, the Chief Minister also visited the Pantas mobile office which can travel to areas where their services are needed.

Mohd Shafie, who is also the State Finance Minister, also launched the department’s JTU Dashboard which is part of initiatives to display its core business and key performance index (KPI) online in real time.

The JTU Dashboard contains data from 44 department’s district offices.

He was also pleased to know the department’s achievement in winning the international-level Special Achievement in GIS Award in San Diego, United States, on July 11 last year, and hoped the department will continue to be innovative and creative in its effort to boost further the State land and survey administration.

He also presented an Excellent Services Award to 86 of the department’s officers and staff who performed excellently last year.

Department Director Datuk Safar Untong and other State leaders were also present.
