Pressy leads Sabah’s challenge at Thailand Open

KOTA KINABALU: National elite athlete Pressy Misty Philip will lead Sabah’s challenge in the Thailand Open Karate-Do Championship at the Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok starting today until Sunday.
The team are represented by a 20-member squad, and Sabah Karate Association (SKA) President, Datuk Jake Jikulin Nointin said on Tuesday, that most of the members are junior athletes.

“The team comprise mostly our juniors and we hope the competition will give them the experience and exposure in order for them to progress.
“We have always emphasised on the need for development to ensure Sabah karate will continue to have a bright and successful future.
“While we expect some of the exponents to deliver the desired results, we are also hoping it would benefit our karatekas especially the young ones, and that is our main objective.”
Jake who is the head of the delegation added that the Thailand Open would also be an important platform for Sabah’s Sukma athletes to get competition exposure.

“Richal Mattan, Eldrich Aaron Jubili and Pressy who are with the team are among the eight that we have shortlisted for Sukma Games 2020, and we will continue to expose our Sukma athletes from time to time.”
