LABUAN: Labuan Corporation is expected to create history by having a woman Chief Executive Officer. Dr Fary Akmal Osman is tipped to assume the post this week, making her the first woman to do so since Labuan Corporation was established in 2001.
Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Advisory Council of LC, Datuk Rosman Isli, when contacted for confirmation said:

“I have been told she had been offered the post by an official in the Federal Territories Ministry.”
Another member of the Advisory Council, Noor Halim Zaini, added that he learned from LC officials that Dr Fary would report for duty this week.
Earlier, there were speculations that she had rejected the post.
According to Dr Fary’s credentials, she was Chief of Physical and Economic Administration Section of the Finance Minister and Director of the Board of Universiti Perlis Malaysia (UniMAP).

Head of Labuan Woman Association, Fauziah Datuk Din, who last week complained of being a let-down that no woman were appointed to the Advisory Council of Labuan Corporation welcomed the appointment and said: “We hope that she could bring positive changes to Labuan and perform better.”
