Children’s early involvement  in sports beneficial: Rasinin
KENINGAU: Children’s early involvement in sports can lead them into becoming an excellent academic achiever.

Assistant Minister for Rural Development Rasinin Koutis, said students who were moulded as early as preschool will have an opportunity to maximise their potential in their chosen sports.

“Their talent must be polished to become a successful athlete who will in future able contribute their talent to the state and county,” he said during the Tabika/Taska Kemas children potential day.

The programme was held in Keningau Sports Complex community hall on Thursday (July 11), attended by 361 contingents from Keningau, Ranau, Tenom and Pensiangan.

Rasinin who is also the Liawan Legislative Assemblyman said the community developers of Tabika/Taska was rewarded with teaching aids and multimedia awards as a token of appreciation.

Earlier, Kemas deputy director Muhammad Abu Bakar said such sport day are hold annually and representatives from every zone compete in the state level in Papar on August 13-15 and the national level in September  in Penang.

Rasinin gave the prizes to Kemas Ranau who emerged as the overall winner and Tenom for winning the parade.

 Ranau was also the champion for futsal, netball, sprint hurdles relay, foward squard jump and the innovative Taska Also present were Sabah Kemas deputy director Muhammad Abu Bakar, Keningau Keningau Kemas officer Mohamad Yusli Nassir, assistant regional administrative officer Jamari Japri and early childhood education operations officer Zukiyana Yacho.
