Nabawan fire station: Work begins Feb 2020

KENINGAU: Work on a RM7 million Nabawan District Fire and Rescue Station Category D will begin in February 2020 and is expected to be completed by 2021, said Department Keningau zon Head, Yuszaimi Hairrul Azwan Juatan here.
He said the station would be located on 3.5 acres.

“Tender will be issued at the end of this year,” he told reporters after a site visit and briefing by Yuszaimi at the Fire and Rescue Department office, here.
Among those who attended the briefing and participated in the visit to the propose site were the Senior Officers and representatives from the Malaysian Public Works Department (JKR) Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
Yuszaimi said the existence of the station in Nabawan would enhance the response time to attend to fires and rescue operations.
He said it is in time Nabawan had a new fire station in view of the distance between Keningau and Nabawan which is too far in addition to some problems the department is experiencing, especially traffic jams which impedes the arrival of firefighters to the district.

Yuszaimi said currently the Keningau zone Fire and Rescue Department has four stations namely in Keningau, Tambunan, Sook and Tenom.
He also said, the proposed site for the new station have good road, electricity, water and telecommunication network in addition the site also situated in a flat area and close to Nabawan township.
