Fined for illegally having petrol

TAWAU: A 68-year-old IMM13 holder was fined RM10,000 or six months’ jail by the Session’s Court, Thursday, for illegally having 450 litres of petrol in Semporna.
Sabtulah Malali pleaded guilty before Judge Awang Kerisnada Awang Mahmud to the offence at Gaya Island waters, off Semporna, at about 6am on July 16 this year.

The court also ordered the accused to be referred to the Immigration Department upon completion of his sentence, while the confiscated items such as boat and engine pump were disposed of. The petrol will, however, become Government revenue.
Sabtulah was charged under Section 21 of Control of Supply Act 1961, read together Regulations 3(1) of Control of Supply Regulations 1974 and Section 20 of the same Act.
The section provides fine of not more than RM1 million or three years’ jail, or both, on conviction.
