IGAM organised alcohol-related harm awareness workshops in Sabah close to the festival to communities at risk.

“After 15 years of service in Sabah, we are committed to do more for the people of Sabah in terms of providing a better quality of life. I encouraged trekkers and nature lovers to participate in this challenge to help us continue our work,” he told a press conference held at KK Times Square here Friday.

Anbarasu said the Salt Trail Challenge promises a one of a kind experience, connecting people with nature, history and culture of the local communities along the trail.

Meanwhile, Sabah Parks’ Board of Trustees (BoT) Assistant Director (Enforcement and Operation) Maipol Spait said the event will be held at the Salt Trail which is named after the historical route used by the local people of Tambunan in the olden days to barter trade their produce for salt and other necessities at ‘tamu’ (market) on the west coast.

He said the trail signifies the hope of the communities for better healthcare facilities and education rights. In future, this community hopes to partake in the development enjoyed by Sabahans in more developed areas.
