KK Rotarians been active even before Malaysia formed

Kota Kinabalu: State Minister of Rural Development Datuk Ewon Benedick commended the efforts of Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu (RCKK) for continuing to help the needy around Sabah.“The good projects carried out by your club had contributed much to the government’s efforts in nation building and the well-being of its community at large.ADVERTISEMENT
“Your medial outreach, clean water projects, education programmes, youth development programmes and some others are commendable and meaningful indeed,” he said at the 68th installation of office bearers of the club recently. His speech was read by his Deputy Dumpil Hj Pg Masdal.
It was noted that RCKK started carrying out its charitable activities even before Malaysia came about in 1963.
“I was amazed at how much a group of people can do when they put their hearts and minds together to contribute selflessly for the well-being of the people,” said Ewon.
He said Rotary’s activities have reached every corner of Sabah and had positive impacts in every aspects of human life.ADVERTISEMENT
Meanwhile, new president Prof. Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Kamaruzaman, who was the former Vice Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), said he would continue the good work that outgoing president Phillip had accomplished in his tenure.
“I will achieve more in my term as president. I praise Phillip for setting high standard in RCKK by accomplishing so much in so little time,” said Kamaruzaman.

The club would focus on a membership drive, medical outreach (in particular the Cure Cataract Campaign) and some other projects which are on-going currently such as Jazz Festival, Kiau Birds Festival among others.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
