Pinoys want salaries, inflation, jobs tackled

MANILA: Salary rates, rising prices of basic goods and jobs are among the issues Filipinos want to be discussed in President Rodrigo Duterte’s 4th State of the Nation Address, a Pulse Asia study showed.Of 1,200 Filipino adults interviewed, 17.1 per cent said they would like to hear Duterte’s views on workers’ pay in his annual speech, while another 17.1 per cent wanted to know about the government’s plan in reducing the prices of basic goods, the study showed.ADVERTISEMENT
Other topics Filipinos want to hear on July 22 are the creation of jobs or livelihood opportunities (15.2 per cent), Manila’s relations with Beijing (9.2 per cent), and the assertion of Philippine sovereignty in the West Philippine sea (6.1 per cent.)
Some 7.8 per cent of respondents still wan to hear about Duterte’s war on drugs; 5.9 per cent hope the President would say something about the improving the agricultural sector, while 2.6 per cent want pension increases to be discussed.
