Rise in Ranau KRT members shows awareness on importance of body

RANAU: The sudden increase in the number of Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT) members show there is awareness among the people about its significance within the community.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (National Unity and Social Security), Datuk Dr Md Farid Md Rafik said it is only fitting since KRT has an important role in fostering the spirit of national unity regardless of race, culture, religion and political ideology.

He said the current number of KRT members that have recently reached 1,056 being established in Sabah, of which 24 were in the Ranau and 17 in Kundasang, is a very positive development.
“Obviously it turns out that KRT plays an important and much needed role in a community, not only for the purpose of holding community programmes but also essential to assist security aspects.
“The security aspect is important in order for the public to avoid unhealthy social issues, especially criminal cases. We hope the community practices five concepts of Rukun Negara and apply it as the heart of everyday life.
“I am glad that Sabahans are one of the best examples of being role model in terms of racial unity and racial diversity in one roof regardless of race and religion, they remain united,” he said.

Md Farid was speaking when officiating the Program ‘Jom Jumpa’ ‘Membudayakan Perpaduan Meraikan Kepelbagaian’ KRT Ranau dan Kundasang that was held at the Ranau Sports Complex recently.
The programme, organised by the National Unity and Integation Department Sabah with the cooperation of the Jawatankuasa Permuafakatan KRT Ranau and Kundasang, was also attended by Sabah State Unity Director, Deilin Liet Blaun.
