Six held for gang robbery, causing hurt in Labuan
LABUAN: Three locals were arrested for a gang robbery, while three others were detained for causing injuries at separate incidents near two popular entertainment outlets here on Thursday (Aug 8).

In the first case, the three suspects, aged 20 to 30, one of them believed to be involved in drugs, were alleged to have robbed a Turkish national outside an entertainment outlet at Jalan Bunga Puteri Malu at 2.30am.

Labuan Police Chief Supt Muhamad Farid Ahmad said the Turkish man fought back against the robbers in a scuffle and sustained minor injuries.

“The trio fled after robbing the man of RM1,000 but we managed to nab them at different locations between 12.30pm to 3pm on Thursday (Aug 8),” he said.

The case was being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code.

Meanwhile, in the second case, three men were detained for allegedly causing injuries to a man at a sport bar and lounge in Jalan Jati, about 12.48am, on Thursday (Aug 8).

According to the fact of the case, the trio, unknown to the victim, were having drinks at the same premise and were approached by the victim’s friend for a toast. “However, after a while, two of them suddenly came to the victim’s table and hit him and his friend with chairs and bottles, resulting in them to sustain head injuries,” he said

Muhamad Farid said the trio, in their 20s and 40s, surrendered to the police at 6.30pm on Friday and detained for further investigation.

The case was being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
