Helping the hardcore poor during Aidil Adha joy

KOTA KINABALU: During the Hari Raya Aidil Adha, various parties, including government agencies and non-governmental organisations donate to the asnaf (hardcore poor). 

Among them are Wanita Pertubuhan Islam Seluruh Sabah who fulfilled this responsibility in conjunction with the Mualaf (converts) Contribution Ceremony held at the Kafa Kampung Menunggang Building in Kuala Penyu, here, Monday. 

A total of 20 mualafs comprising local communities received donations in the form of sacrificial meat and other essentials presented by Usia Wanita Chief, Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun. 

The event also saw ‘tahnik’ ceremony or ‘cukur jambul’ (a ceremony for the baby’s very first haircut) involving 15 babies. 

Azizah, who is Beaufort MP, said the event is their annual event to help and at the same time ease the burden of those in need. 

Meanwhile, Srikandi Bersatu Malaysia also held a Korban and Kenduri Rakyat programme held simultaneously across the country, Monday. 

A total of two buffaloes were presented by Srikandi Bersatu Malaysia Sabah at the City Mosque and Masjid Kerukan in Beaufort. 

The ceremony held at the City Mosque was represented by Srikandi Bersatu Sabah Secretary, Dato’ Redonah Bahanda cum Kota Marudu Srikandi Bersatu Head who handed over the buffalo to the City Mosque Chairman Datuk Jamal Tun Sakaran. 

Jamal said this year the City Mosque received eight cattle and a buffalo donated by individuals, corporations and political parties. 

Also present were Sipitang Srikandi Bersatu Chief Datuk Surinam Sadikun, Asiah Atoh (Sepanggar), Fahzean Mohiddin (Papar), Salmah Sait (Putatan) dan Sabah Srikandi Bersatu Deputy Head, Halizah Din. 

While the event in Beaufort was represented by Sabah Srikandi Bersatu Head Azizah. 

In SANDAKAN, members of the mosque and surau committee in the Libaran area are urged to continue to perform the trust and responsibility in managing the mosque. 

Libaran appointed assemblyman, Jaffari Waliam, said the management of mosques and surau should also continue to exercise good financial governance and have a sound balance sheet system. 

“We also hope that face-to-face discussions will be held in the wake of any issues instead of circulating the issue on video,” he said after attending an Ibadah Korban held at the Masjid At-Taqwa, in Gum-Gum Jaya People’s Housing Programme, at Mile 16, Monday. 

A total of 500 residents received sacrificial meat during the event. 

Seramai 500 penduduk perumahan itu juga menerima agihan daging korban berkenaan.

The Gum-Gum Jaya PPR Mosque Deputy Chairman, Suhatman Lambo said they received nine cattle and buffalos this year. 

Parti Islam SeMalaysia (PAS) Putatan also held their Ibadah Korban Perdana on Sunday and Monday. 

More than 800 residents from Sembulan, Tanjung Aru, Petagas, Kg Ulu, Kg Meruntum, Kg Sailan and several other areas received donations in the form of meat during the programme. 

Putatan PAS also held a gotong-royong at Pulau Gaya together with residents at the Masjid Al-Aliff. 

Also present were Putatan PAS Head, Ustaz Muhammad Akmal Othman.
