Deport Zakir at once: Sabah PKR
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah PKR called for the immediate deportation of controversial Indian religious preacher Zakir Naik (pic) for calling on Malaysian Chinese to “go back first as they are guests” in the country.

Its Vice Chairman Kenny Chua said Zakir has shown himself to be an extremely dangerous man who is capable of destroying racial and religious harmony in Malaysia.

“His latest remarks have deeply hurt the feelings of every Malaysian Chinese, including in Sabah. No one in his or her right mind would say such a thing.

“This shows how dangerous this person is. The Government should banish him from our peace loving country just like many other countries that have banned him from entering,” he said.

Zakir had said that the Chinese, Indians and British were the “new guests” and that except for the new generation, most Chinese were not born in the country.

Zakir made the remarks when talking about how Islam spread in the region through traders during a talk in Kota Baru, Kelantan, last week.

“He should realise that the people in this country respect Islam. Likewise, our Muslim brothers and sisters respect us from different races and religions.

“To me, it is a crime to instigate and make statements that can stir hatred among people of different races and faiths. He can’t be allowed freedom to spread his brand of evangelism in this country. He must go. The sooner the better,” said Chua, who is also State Assistant Finance Minister.

He urged the State Government to stand with the people in rejecting Zakir by imposing a ban against him from entering Sabah.

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad had said last month that Putrajaya had no choice but to allow Zakir to reside in Malaysia as other countries did not want him.
