Kota Kinabalu: The Consumer Tribunal Thursday ordered a bridal firm, Life Bridal Sdn Bhd, to refund RM5,061.20 plus costs to a newly-wedded couple for a botched outdoor photo shoot. The complainant Randall Lingam said he and his wife were badly treated throughout the two days outdoor photo shoot, including having to carry around his wife’s long gown while the photographer’s assistant was too busy on her handphone and could not be bothered.ADVERTISEMENT
The photographer also failed to deliver the promise of a special sunset photo shoot at Sinurambi to which Randall had paid RM470 for the entrance fee.
Life Bridal did not deny any of the claims but asked for a lesser amount to be refunded. It said Randall, initially, only asked for the value of the package to be refunded which was RM4,237.
Tribunal President Yong Pei Yi ordered Life Bridal Sdn Bhd to pay Randall the full amount of RM5,061.20 including costs.
In another claim, a consumer succeeded in her claim to get Grolier (M) Sdn Bhd to stop harassing her for a subscription she has already fully paid in 2016.ADVERTISEMENT
According to Fitrinawati Talip, since October 2016 until July 2019, she and her husband have been receiving calls and messages demanding them to pay the overdue amount. She also presented a print screen of messages to the tribunal where Grolier had also threatened to viral the complainant’s details in social media for not settling the debt.
Despite having produced proof of all payments, Grolier continued to harass them forcing them to bring their grievances to the Consumers Tribunal which instructed Grolier to stop calling and send messages demanding for payment from the claimant.
