KK book spot in the final

KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu booked a spot in the final of the Keningau Sabah Games in December after winning their three opening matches in the West Coast South group.
They edged Ranau 2-1 at the Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex football field on Friday to confirm their place with two matches to spare.

They had earlier defeated Papar 4-3 in the opening match followed by a 1-0 win over Tuaran.
Coach Roslan Wasli was happy with the results and hopes the players can continue their winning momentum against Putatan and Penampang in the last two group matches.
Meanwhile, the qualifying rounds kicked off in all six zones throughout the state on Tuesday.

Apart from West Coast South, the other zones are Sandakan (Sandakan, Beluran, Tongod, Telupid, Kinabatangan), Tawau (Tawau, Kalabakan, Semporna, Lahad Datu, Kunak), West Coast North ( Kudat, Kota Belud, Pitas , Kota Marudu), Upper interior (Nabawan, Tambunan, Tenom) and Lower Interior ( Beaufort, Kuala Penyu, Sipitang).

The players involved also have the chance to make an impression as the Sabah Football Association selection committee headed by Henry Saimpon have assigned coaches to each venue to scout for players to be shortlisted for the President Cup and Youth Cup competitions next season.
