BEAUFORT: The Lumadan-Sipitang road is now in a very bad condition and have become dangerous – some are uneven or sunken.
The maintenance works on the left lane of the Lumadan-Bukau stretch seemed to be ignored by Public Works Department (JKR).

A motorist, who wanted to be known as Dg Maslianah Salleh, said road conditions were deteriorating due to the lorries carrying construction materials involved in the Pan Borneo project. It was also the main route between Beaufort and Sipitang.
“JKR should act immediately to repair it or at least put a sign that the road is uneven so road users can be more careful,” she said.
Recently, there were two vehicles involved in an accident as one of them was trying to avoid the sunken part of the road.
There were also two deep potholes on the road to Beaufort that may puncture car tyres.

Meanwhile, in TENOM, the 25km road linking Kemabong and Rundum will be upgraded soon.
“The project is currently under study,” Tenom MP Noorita Sual said, adding that she was aware of the villagers’ plight.

“However, it may take some time as the Government is now looking at its funds and the existing allocation,” she said when opening the Ziarah Kasih Rundum Highland Programme organised by the Pertubuhan Sillaturahim Wanita DAP Tenom District, at Kg Rundum Hall.
