‘Maqasid Syariah’ to be fully applied in Fed Govt admin

LABUAN: The ‘Maqasid Syariah’ (goals and objectives of Syariah) policy will be fully applied in the Federal Government administration.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof said the Maqasid Syariah comprises of five principles which are to preserve religion, life, consciousness, race and wealth of the people.

The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) is presently conducting a roadshow across the country to introduce and explain the policy to government officials, private and corporate agencies as well as the general public.
“Thus far, the Maqasid Syariah has been applied in the administration of all the agencies under my jurisdiction and the policy is well-accepted by most,” he told reporters in a townhall session and launching of the Defense Ministry’s Dakwah Kawasan Operasi programme at Darul Kifayah Complex here on Monday.
Dr Mujahid said Labuan is the tenth stop of their roadshow where he himself has explained the policy to the public.
He said the new policy will be extended to all levels of administration in the Federal Government only, including Ministries led by non-Muslim ministers.

“I have met with these Ministers regarding the new Islamic policy (Maqasid Syariah) and there has been no objections for it to be implemented in their respective Ministries.
