THE Sabah Health Department has been urged to replace the existing “electronic queue management calling system” servicing the Manggatal Health Clinic at Jalan Kokol, as the machine has been apparently been out of service for more than a year.

A patient of the government clinic concerned approached Hotline not too long ago to highlight about the inconvenience of not being able to hear the latest queue number being called due to the non-functioning queue system in question.

“The last time the machine was seen functioning was about one and a half years ago,” said ROMMY, who spoke on behalf of other patients who have regular appointments in that clinic.

He said the staff resorted to screaming their lungs out to get attention of the patients waiting at the lobby.

“I pity those female staff who was forced to shout the next queue number or the name of the patient several times before getting the attention of the rightful individual,” he added.

He recalled an incident during his quarterly review where a partially deaf patient sought his assistance to look up for his number and name.

“Fortunately he came early so he managed to get a double digit as compared to my three digit queue number,” he added.

He said the efficiency in the queuing system can only be restored should the electronic queue system is repaired or replaced to a new one.

“Hopefully our pleas will reach the top officials of this department and the health ministers so that there will be improvement in this clinic that benefited many people,” he added.

Hotline submitted the complaint to the Department concerned recently.

“Allow us to verify the complaint first before commenting further,” its spokeswoman said, adding that the outcome would be emailed to Hotline soon as possible.   (OV)
