PDC warns against monopolising parking space in Dongonggon
THE Penampang District Council has been urged to step in to prevent errant individuals from monopolising the public car parks in Donggongon township.

A disgruntled motorist highlighted the perennial issue to Hotline recently, saying that the matter is getting out of hand and that any motorist who insists occupying the space concerned is risk having their car vandalised.

“A friend of mine was warned by an unknown individual not to remove the object which was placed on the parking space or else her car will be scratched,” claimed a complainant, who requested for anonymity.

In view of the scarcity of parking spaces in town especially during Tamu ground, he said the selfish act of these individuals had forced many motorists leaving behind their car at undesignated area.

“We are at risk of getting summoned by the traffic policemen for parking our car on the public walkway, road divider or double parking,” he added.

A Council spokesman said its staff at the relevant unit would be notified about the matter soon as possible.

“Monopolising a parking space which meant for public use is prohibited unless he or she has been granted approval to use the space within certain hours,” he added.

He said its enforcement officers would be asked to keep an eye on the situation there from time to time.  (OV)
