Man’s torso found off Mengalum

KOTA KINABALU: A man’s torso was found in the waters off Pulau Mengalum, here, Wednesday.

The 7.40am discovery was made by a nearby oil platform personnel who in turned alerted the auxiliary police at Menara Petronas.

Police were subsequently alerted about 8.10am.  

The torso, believed to be that of a man in his 40s, was clad in a yellow T-shirt and black shorts, according to City Police Chief ACP Habibi Majinji.  

No documents were found.

Habibi said the case has been classified as sudden death and that the torso has been sent for post-mortem. 

In a separate case, 28 people, including a woman, were rounded up during an operation at a settlement in Telipok, near here, Wednesday.

Out of the figure, 11 men, aged between 17 and 64, were detained after they tested positive for drugs, according to Habibi.

The team comprising two officers and 33 personnel from city police also seized 0.23gm of suspected syabu worth about RM40.
