LABUAN: Marine police here nabbed seven men, including two Filipinos, for various offences during a two-day operation from Friday (Aug 23).

Sabah Marine Police (Region 4) Commander ACP Mohamad Pajeri Ali said in the “Op Gelora Khas”, conducted in collaboration with the Labuan police narcotics division, 44 individuals, including boat operators, skippers, crewmen and anglers, were screened.

“The operation was to detect and arrest those involved in illicit drug activities,” he said.

In the first case, five local men, aged between 22 and 38, were arrested after they tested positive for methamphetamine.

They will be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

A 30 year-old Filipino was also detained after he was found in possession of 0.12gm of methamphetamine, and a 51 year-old Filipino fisherman was also picked up for not possessing valid identification documents.

Pajeri said all seven suspects were brought to Labuan police station for further action.

He added that his department would continue and improve operations from time to time to ensure that illegal activities can be eradicated.
